Petershill skipper Ryan Jordan has warned of a Rob Roy backlash when the Super Premier Division rivals come together tomorrow.

Last weekend's shock 3-0 reverse at home to Clydebank brought an end to a 10-game unbeaten run for the third-top-of the-table outfit whose last loss prior to that came against Peasy.

Dropping six points off pacesetters Petershill and Auchinleck Talbot has left the Rabs needing to re-ignite their faltering title challenge, and inspirational stopper Jordan reckons they will come out all-guns-blazing at Adamslie Park.

He said: "It was a shock to read of Rob Roy losing so emphatically last week, yet that kind of result can happen to anyone in this league.

"Can they afford to slip up again against us? Well, I really don't think they can, and tomorrow certainly has all the makings of a win-or-bust game for them.

"If the gap opens up to nine points, Rob Roy will need both us and Talbot to hit a bad run of form, but I can't see it.

"The onus is firmly on them to make the running and get themselves back into contention, so you have to imagine they will have a real go at us.

"However, nobody here is running scared at the prospect.

"If anything, the guys are in confident mood and everyone feels we can go there and get result."

Peasy co-gaffer Willie Patterson endorsed his centre-back's statement, saying: "This is a very intense period for us with a lot of big games coming hard and fast.

"But so far our players have coped marvellously and if anyone can handle the pressure of facing a fired-up Rob Roy in their own backyard – they can.

"What should not be forgotten is our own need to pick up three points because we would hate to throw away all the hard work that has gone into getting level with Talbot after months of chasing them.

"To slip up now would be a kick in the teeth."

Auchinleck make the short Ayrshire hop to face reigning West Region reigning champions Irvine Meadow.

The hosts are currently 14 points behind their visitors, and sit eighth in the standings, which is their lowest league placing for many years.

Chris Strain's men will be out to avoid a fourth consecutive league defeat going up against a Talbot side yet to be beaten in Super Premier action this season.

Medda's chances are further blighted due to a lack of personnel, with absentees including Richie Barr (suspended), Tom Brighton, Michael Hughes, Liam McGuinness (injured), and Adam Strachan as well as Kieron Burns.

Yet this depleted and weakened squad is not too dissimilar to the team that went into the Ardagh Glass Cup final against Talbot which the Irvine club won on a penalty shoot-out after a 4-4 draw.

Ashfield are readying themselves for a return to action away to Cumnock, with the Glasgow side's last outing coming in their shock 1-0 Emirates Junior Cup defeat at home to Ardeer Thistle.

Gaffer Stevie Rankin said: "Having an idle week has allowed us to get over that cup result.

"Our focus is now firmly on trying to improve our league position by stringing a solid run of results together.

"That's easier said than done, though, as we have only taken four points from a possible 15 while Cumnock have picked up one less, so both teams are badly needing a win."

Elsewhere, rumours have been circulating that father-and-son duo John Fallon Senior and Junior are refusing to give up on their dream to get back in the Junior arena despite failing to land a couple of posts in Lanarkshire.

They were recently linked with the job at stricken East Kilbride Thistle, while last weekend saw them pipped by the pairing of Robert Downs and Davie Turnbull for the job at Bellshill Athletic.

Fallon Snr said: "We are both keen as mustard to get back in the game and it's just a case of us plugging away until an opportunity comes our way."
