AIDEN McGEADY last night admitted he is worried he might get booed by Celtic fans on his return to Parkhead.

The former Hoops winger will make an emotional homecoming when he travels to Glasgow on Wednesday for Celtic's critical Champions League showdown with Spartak Moscow.

Spartak are in disarray at the moment after two crushing defeats in the league and the dismissal of former manager Unai Emery.

McGeady looks set to quit the club in January, with Fulham interested in signing him up, but the player recently made his return to the Spartak team action after six weeks out with a foot injury.

The Irish cap made 185 starts for Celtic in a six-year spell at Parkhead before quitting for a £9million move to Russia, and now admits that he is worried about the awaiting reception when he returns to Glasgow's East End.

McGeady said: "I'm really looking forward to this game.

"I hope fans of Celtic will give me a good reception, but I am not sure they will.

"I am delighted to be back playing after a long spell out injured."

McGeady's comeback, however, did not go quite to plan, with Spartak seeing two of their men dismissed during a 4-2 loss to the big spending Zenit St Petersburg.

The former Celtic man believes his side can quickly bounce back from this loss.

He said: "We created enough chances to win.

"The new coachValery Karpin didn't change much really. He kept it mostly the same.

"Our main hope for the rest of the season is that the supporters don't desert us. We need them more than ever now."
