HAMILTON are likely to hold a pitch inspection this morning ahead of their Irn-Bru First Division fixture against Dumbarton tomorrow.

The New Douglas Park surface is still covered in icy patches as temperatures continue to fall across the country.

The pitch remains frozen three inches below the ground and, with more rain expected, the prospects of Billy Reid's side getting back to action appear slim.

Accies are due to head to the Bet Butler Stadium on Monday night to face Ian Murray's side in William Hill Scottish Cup action after the first fixture was postponed last week.

Inspections are likely to take place across the country as clubs prepare for a spate of cancellations, leaving fans frustrated at a lack of action as the big freeze returns.

Boss Reid said: "The pitch has water lying on the surface and there is still ice on the pitch. So unless something drastic happens it is not looking good.

"We then go to Monday night and then to Wednesday night. It is frustrating, but there is nothing that we can do. We will just have to wait and see."
