THE big freeze has again caused chaos with the Scottish football fixture list after several league and cup ties across the country were postponed due to frozen pitches.

And there could be yet more frustration for Dumbarton and Hamilton Accies today, with their Scottish Cup clash at the Bet Butler Stadium facing a pitch inspection to determine if it can go ahead as scheduled this evening.

The fourth round tie has already been postponed three times at the Rock, with last Saturday's Irn-Bru First Division fixture at New Douglas Park also falling foul of the wintery weather as snow, ice and plummeting temperatures have left pitches across Scotland unplayable.

With tonight's cup clash in serious doubt, the wait will go on for Sons boss Ian Murray as he attempts to make his dugout debut.

The former Rangers and Hibernian defender has been in place at the Rock for more than three weeks since being named Alan Adamson's successor but has yet to take charge of his first game.

With the Sons due to host Livingston in the First Division this weekend, Murray's frustration could be set to continue unless there is an upturn in conditions that allows the pitch to thaw out.

In the Third Division, there was disappointment for Clyde and Queen's Park last night as their league clash was called off following an inspection at Broadwood while Stirling's match at home to East Stirlingshire was also called off.

The Scottish Cup replay between Morton and Turriff United had already been postponed due to the state of the Cappielow pitch while St Johnstone's trip to Cowdenbeath has been rescheduled for Monday.
