LEWIS MACLEOD is confident the future is bright for Rangers after leading the way for a host of Light Blue stars this season.

The midfielder landed the Irn-Bru Young Player of the Month award for November after a series of stunning displays for Ally McCoist's side as he has quickly become one of the Gers' key men.

But Macleod is not the only Murray Park starlet who has burst on to the scene this term, with the likes of Barrie McKay, Fraser Aird and Kyle Hutton regularly starring for the Ibrox club

McCoist had little choice but to place his faith in youth this season and Macleod reckons the Third Division has proven the ideal testing ground.

He said: "I was quite surprised [to win the award] actually. I am absolutely delighted.

"It is my first time so hopefully I can get a couple more. I have started every game so that's been a surprise.

"The Third Division has been different but it has been a good learning curve for all the young boys.

"I think we have adapted quite well to it now. We are just looking forward to the rest of the season.

"Barrie has been doing well in the last couple of games as well and if he keeps going the way he is then I am sure he will be looking to get [an award].

"But everybody has been playing really well recently.

"I only expected to play a few games and I was looking to make an impact every time I played.

"I think I have been quite consistent in the games that I have played in and the manager has stuck by me so I am delighted.

"I think it is a good time to put us in. If it was the SPL, it would be harder because the teams are a lot tougher to play against.

"It is good to get the young boys in and about the first team and get them a couple of games and the manager has done that."

Macleod is just one of three Rangers players to feature in every game this season, joining Neil Alexander and captain Lee McCulloch as one of McCoist's stalwarts.

The Gers make the trip to Links Park tomorrow aiming to keep up their momentum in the Third Division title race and the 18-year-old is confident they have banished their away-day blues.

Macleod said: "I have only scored once, against Montrose. It was brilliant to score at Ibrox.

"I have never played there [at Links Park] so it will be another new experience, this season has been full of them.

"At the start of the campaign, it was a bit difficult for everybody but I think we have got used to it and in the last couple of games we have won away from home.

"That is what we were looking to do at the start of the season, although it didn't happen.

"I think we are more used to it now so we are looking to win every game between now and the end of the season.

"Sometimes the shouts from the stand aren't the best but I am used to playing at smaller grounds with the under 19s.

"When they the grounds are packed with fans, though, it is a lot different."
