IAN MURRAY hopes he will be able to start reshaping his Dumbarton squad sooner rather than later as he targets SPL loan deals this winter.

The new Sons boss will take charge of his maiden Irn-Bru First Division match tomorrow when his side face Raith Rovers.

Sons are currently eight points from safety at the foot of the stand-ings and Murray is keen to wheel and deal in the transfer market to boost their survival hopes.

He said: "We are pretty happy so far and we have a good indication of what we need to do.

"Things are slowly but surely happening and we are trying to get a few things sorted and a plan in place of what we are hoping to do over the next few weeks.

"It is a busy time for every club at the moment so we will have to wait and see how things develop in the next week or two and see what we can do in terms of players coming in and going out and we will take it from there.

"Like every club, when you want a player it seems to take forever for the deal to be done.

"We are in the same boat as a lot of clubs. All the part-time team are looking for the same players so it can be difficult.

"There are not any specific positions at the moment to be honest, we are looking all over the park.

"If someone becomes available and they are good enough then we will try and make it happen regardless of their position.

"We are maybe carrying a few too many players so we will have to address that over the next few weeks.

"Transfer fees for us are pretty much out of the question so we are looking at loan deals. We will see what the SPL clubs are looking to do over the winter."
