STEPHEN O'Donnell is hoping Partick Thistle can complete a clean sweep of Irn-Bru First Division scalps when they face Morton today.

Jackie McNamara's side head into the top-of-the-table clash with a three-point advantage over their promotion rivals and eager to gain revenge for a 3-1 Cappielow defeat earlier in the campaign.

That loss is one of only two league defeats the Jags have suffered as they have put together an impressive run of form to put themselves in pole position in the title race.

Thistle have a perfect home record on First Division duty so far this term and O'Donnell hopes there will be plenty of festive cheer at Firhill.

He said: "A lot of hard work has been done this year and we hope next year will be a very successful one for us. We have a lot of hard work still to do, but we have the lead and a game in hand as well.

"The Morton match is a huge one for us. They are a good side and have already beaten us this season, so we know it won't be easy.

"We want to go out and show we deserve to be at the top of the table. If we can beat them, we will have beaten every other team in the league so that would be the ideal Christmas present.

"The league is tight and most teams on their day can beat anyone else. If someone doesn't turn up, then anything can happen.

"We just need to concentrate game by game and hope that, come the end of the season, we will be top of the table. If we could open up a gap then great. But we just need to keep working hard and hopefully everything will go well for us."

The Ton clash could have O'Donnell making his first appearance since the Scottish Cup loss to Dunfermline after he missed the Jags' dramatic 3-2 triumph over Raith.

Aaron Muirhead stepped into the right-back berth for the Rovers victory and Thistle's regular full-back knows he has a fight on his hands to reclaim his place.

O'Donnell said: "Aaron played on the right against Raith and did well and that shows the strength of the squad. The gaffer could have put Paul Paton in there as well and it is the same right across the team.

"Kris Doolan was on the bench, Mark McGuigan came on and was brilliant, and Steven Craig was great as well. I wouldn't want to be the gaffer and have to pick a team. Thankfully it is not my problem.

"I just want to get back in the team for today's game and hopefully we can get another win."
