CELTIC stopper Charlie Mulgrew will revel in Scottish football's winter break before going into overdrive as his team chase glory at home and abroad.

The Hoops will fly to Marbella for a training break and, as they fight for four trophies this season, the respite from the usual routine can give them the impetus to push ahead.

"It will be a chance to get a rest," said Mulgrew, who left the pitch early against Dundee in midweek due to bruised ribs.

"I do not know if it is the right or wrong time but I am sure it will be a good chance to get a rest because there have been a lot of games played this season."

Manager Neil Lennon will stay with his squad for a few days before then taking in a number of games as he seeks to strengthen his squad.

More importantly, though, will be the task of ensuring his own pool is retaining for the latter part of the campaign.

Gary Hooper is one who has attracted a fair bit of interest from south of the border and Mulgrew said: "He is playing really well, he is a good player and he is coming into his prime.

"Hopefully, there are no bids for him."
