Rory McIlroy wants Colin Montgomerie to leave the way clear for Paul McGinley to become Europe's new Ryder Cup captain.
The world No.1, who is expected today to announce a 10-year deal with Nike worth well over £100m, made his thoughts known again 48 hours before Europe should name their man for Gleneagles next year.
"Ryder Cup captaincy should be a one-time thing," Northern Irishman McIlroy said. "Everybody deserving gets their chance and moves on. I would love to play under Paul McGinley in 2014."
Meanwhile, Scott Jamieson narrowly missed out on claiming the Volvo Golf Champions title in South Africa after he blew a five-shot lead to let local hero Louis Oosthuizen claim the crown.
The 29-year-old from Glasgow just missed out on earning his second win in South African in six weeks as 2010 Open winner Oosthuizen carded a joint best-of-the-day 66 at Durban Country Club to take the £282,974 first prize by one shot with a score of 16 under par.
Jamieson said: "Louis's a major champion – there's no shame in losing to him. I gave it my all."
