DANNY WILSON insists he has no regrets about leaving Rangers to chase his Barclays Premier League dream with Liverpool.

The defender shot to prominence under former Ibrox boss Walter Smith but left in 2010 to pen a three-year deal with the English giants.

He has struggled to make an impact south of the border, however, turning out just nine times for the Reds and spending several months of his Anfield career on loan at Blackpool and Bristol City.

Wilson, who has joined Hearts on loan until the end of the season, said: "I haven't played as much as I'd hoped, but the move served its purpose.

"I left to become a better player and I feel I have done that. I don't regret leaving Rangers. I made the call and I stand by it.

"I've been playing against better players in training, guys like Luis Suarez, and you can only learn from that.

"I just want to put that into practice in games now."

With his Liverpool contract up this summer, Wilson appears to have no long-term future at Anfield.

The 21-year-old said: "It's going to be difficult for me to have a future at Liverpool. They have four centre-halves battling for two places.

"I haven't been able to force my way in. Right now, I'm just happy to be here at Hearts. I've been given an opportunity and I need to take it.

"I will be out of contract and it is better for me to be playing.

"Whichever way you look at this, as a shop window or to do well at Hearts, I'm here to do both so hopefully they can marry together.

"I'm just here to play. The next few weeks and months are what is most important to me."
