SAMSON (8) The big shot stopper was decisive on crosses all match long and dealt with everything he was asked to with calm assurance.

CAREY (7) Given a surprise start but produced some superb tackles and was always keen to get forward.

VAN ZANTEN (7) The full-back ran his heart out on the right-flank and refused to be beaten by Celtic's wide men.

McAUSLAND (9) Has had his share of detractors but has really come on this term. Solid as a rock alongside Goodwin at centre-back and produced a brilliant cross for Thompson's clincher.

McGINN (7) Young midfielder refused to be overawed by his boiler room battle with Scott Brown and Co. and never shirked a tackle. A burgeoning talent.

GOODWIN (9) Buddies' captain marvel was outstanding at the heart of the Paisley rearguard. Can consider himself unlucky with the penalty decision but his assuring presence was vital as Saints fended off all that was thrown at them.

NEWTON (8) Unlucky to pick up a booking early on but never let it affect his performance. Looks to be an oustanding loan signing from Newcastle and added real bite into the Paisley midfield.

GONCALVES (8) Took the opener superbly with outside of right boot and showed plenty of appetite for hard work as he delivered a tireless performance down the left flank. Caused Hoops backline real problems with his trickery and change of pace.

THOMPSON (9) Man-of-the-Match performance by the hometown hero capped by a brilliant finish for Saints third and clinching goal. A constant thorn in Celtic's side with his ability in the air, where Thommo won more than his fair share in a lung-bursting performance.

McGOWAN (9) Revelled in the extra space of Hampden in his free role and showed real composure to slot home the penalty against his former club. His return from injury was pivotal to this victory.

TEALE (9) A throwback performance from the former Scotland winger whose energy belied his advancing years. Speed of thought was impressive throughout as he pushed Thommo hard for the man-of-the-match gong.
