BARRIE McKAY has been called up by Scotland for an under-19 friendly international in Holland next week.

He would have been joined by team-mate Lewis Macleod, but the midfielder is anxiously waiting for a scan on his injured knee which will take place today.

McKay and Macleod played their part in helping the young Scots reach the elite round of the European Championships.

These will take place in May in Belgium and also involve England and Georgia, the winners progressing to the finals in Lithuania in July.

The 19s, bossed by Ricky Sbragia, lost 2-1 to the Dutch in a friendly at the Falkirk Stadium in September.

The return is being played in Veenendaal on Wednesday, February 6 – kick-off 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, Billy Stark will name his Scotland under-21 squad today for a friendly in Greece next week, but it is unclear if any Rangers players will be involved.

And Gordon Strachan is due to name his first full squad this week for the friendly with Estonia at Pittodrie on February 6.
