STUART KENNEDY was part of the Aberdeen team which famously won the European Cup-Winners' Cup 2-1 (after extra-time) against Real Madrid in 1983...

TOM COWIE (Stepps) – Could you tell me when Aberdeen full-back Stuart Kennedy made his Scotland debut?

Stuart made his debut on February 22, 1978, with Scotland defeating Bulgaria 2-1 at Hampden. Stuart was in the squad for the 1978 World Cup.

He played in two group matches. A 3-1 defeat from Peru and a 3-1 victory over the Netherlands. Stuart played eight times for Scotland in total.

YOUNG HOOP (Clarkston) – My dad, who's from Broughty Ferry, says he remembers Dundee thumping Celtic many years ago when both teams were, as now, top and bottom of the league. Is he correct?

Dad is absolutely correct. The game took place on April 19, 1980. Celtic were top of the table and Dundee were bottom.

Aberdeen were giving Celts a run for their money in the title race but the smart bet was on Celtic retaining their championship crown from the previous season.

Cue an amazing performance from Dundee and the shock result of the season.

Managed by ex-Celt Tommy Gemmell, Dundee won the game 5-1 with two goals from 17-year-old Ian Ferguson and one apiece from Fleming, Sinclair and Mackie.

Roy Aitken had opened the scoring for the Hoops but that was to be the only green shoot on a dark blue day at Dens Park.

Celtic never really recovered from this unforeseen setback and lost 3-1 at home to Aberdeen the following Wednesday.

The Dons went on to win the first of three League titles under manager Alex Ferguson.

Teams on the day were:

Dundee: Donaldson, Barr, Schaedler, Millar, Glennie, McGeachie, Mackie, Sinclair, Fleming, Shirra, Ferguson.

Celtic: Latchford, Sneddon, McGrain, Aitken, MacDonald, McAdam, Provan, Lennox, McGarvey, McLeod, Doyle.

NEIL MARTIN (Irvine) – In a recent discussion with friends about past Rangers greats, some names kept being repeated and we wondered what has been the most popular surname in the history of the club since World War II.

The most popular surname since 1945 appears to be Ferguson, with seven former players answering to that name, namely: Alex 1967-69, Derek 1982-90, Eric 1983-86, Iain 1984-86, Ian 1987-2000, Barry 1996-2003/2005-2009 and Duncan 1993-94.

The second most popular name appears to be Watson, namely: Craig, 2 Kenny's, 2 Bobby's and Stephen.
