St Mirren boss Danny Lennon was delighted to sign up Stephen Thompson and David van Zanten on longer deals this month, but he has no immediate plans to start talks with any other players, preferring immediately to focus on SPL duties.

The Paisley boss has been satisfied with the recent progress his side has made, but now wants his team to show they are better than their second-bottom league placing would suggest. And that is what will take precedence over the coming weeks.

"David and Stephen have been oustanding for us this season," said Lennon. "It is not just their performances on the park that have been so good for us, but also just how positive they are off it.

"I'm delighted they are tied up but there is nothing else in the immediate pipeline. We'll have a look at things maybe later in the season but just now we want to make sure we are getting things right on the park.

St Mirren host Hibs tomorrow and Lennon believes if his side can put together a run between now and the end of the season then there is no reason why they cannot make a top-six finish for the first time in their history.

"We are in the final of the League Cup and the Quart-final Final of the Scottish Cup, but we are sitting second-bottom of the league and we obviously feel that we are better than that.

"But when you look at it, there are only nine points between us and second spot.

"Whoever can put together a run between now and the final game of the season will see themselves in a right good position.

"We are going into the game with a fully squad, with the exception of the long-term absentees, Thomas Reilly and Darren McGregor.

"We are looking forward to the game because we are playing with so much confidence now.

"In football, confidence is everything. It is the key to being a successful side and we are so positive because of not only the results we've had recently but also because of the way we've been playing.
