Marc McAusland was glad to see the back of Leigh Griffiths after the Hibs striker's disputed penalty sank St Mirren.

The Buddies slumped to their first defeat in five matches as the Hibees made it three wins out of three against Danny Lennon's side this season – with on-loan Wolves frontman Griffiths bagging all five of the Edinburgh outfit's goals.

McAusland said: "I'm sick of the sight of him. He's scored a few against us this season and won them the game twice here at St Mirren Park now.

"So he is not on my mates' list or anything like that."

The defeat leaves St Mirren in 11th place in the SPL table.

The winning goal came after referee Willie Collum pointed to the spot when he adjudged Saints skipper Jim Goodwin to have fouled Hibs winger Matt Done in the home penalty area, although the award looked to be soft.

Lennon, however, preferred to look at the performance of his own players.

He said: "I was very disappointed with the manner in which we went about our business.

"A great deal of credit must go to Hibs for them coming here and stopping us playing. It's very uncharacteristic that you get a group of players and 11 of them have an off day at the same time.

"We'll just put this down as a bad day at the office.

"We now have seven games left and we must make sure we try and hit a run and then achieve our ambition of making it into that top six. It's going to be difficult, but not beyond our means."

Meanwhile, Matt Done believes Hibs' dream of playing European football next season is back on track after they halted their slide down the table.

The Easter Road outfit have been as high as second place, but a run of just two wins in 11 games saw them sink to fifth.

But they are back up to fourth and on course for qualification for the Europa League.

Done, a recent loan arrival from Barnsley, claims that lofty position will not be given up again so meekly this time.

The 24-year-old said: "It's a funny old league now. We're up to fourth and it's in our hands now.

"We've just got to win every game we play and we are capable of that after Saturday's good performance."
