MORTON all but killed off Dunfermline's title challenge with a superb 4-1 win at East End Park.

Now Cappielow boss Allan Moore hopes the Pars can put a major dent in Partick Thistle's promotion dreams when they host the Jags this weekend.

Despite Jim Jefferies' side having the better of the first half, it was the Ton who stormed to the points as Peter MacDonald and Michael Tidser hit a double each to keep the Ton five points clear of Thistle at the top of the Irn-Bru First Division.

The Jags could cut the gap to two tomorrow night but then face a stern test of their title credentials when they head to Fife on Saturday.

Moore said: "They were the better team in the first half but the spot-kick changed it, plus their penalty miss. I just hope they do us a big favour next week when they face Partick Thistle."

He added: "Dunfermline put us under a lot of pressure in the first half and we scored against the run of play.

"We then rode our luck with the penalty they missed but got off to a flyer at the start of the second half and killed the game."
