Super Premier Division bottom markers Shotts Bon Accord have been plunged into turmoil by the resignation of team manager Tony McInally.

His decision to quit comes less than a year since he steered the Lanarkshire club to Emirates Junior Cup glory.

It's believed popular Macca , who has lodged an appeal against a one-year's ban imposed by SJFA beaks, informed club officials before Saturday's 8-0 Euroscot Eng Cup thrashing of Vale of Leven.

He was notably missing from the dugout along with backroom team allies Stewart Ralston, Brian Sheldon and goalkeeping coach Brian Whelan when the Lanarkshire outfit eked out a 1-1 Super Premier Division draw away to Ashfield on Monday night.

Club captain Paul Finnigan and his cousin, former Rutherglen Glencairn midfielder Joe Hayes, stepped in to look after team affairs at Saracen Park.

However, it's believed Shotts club officials are seeking an interim gaffer to take the reins until the end of the season.

One-time Hannah Park manager Rab Sneddon has been linked with the post as has ex-player Stevie Easton.

In the meantime, Finny and Hayes will be in charge when Shotts continue their battle against the drop by hosting Rob Roy tonight. Finny said: "The invitation to take charge came right out of the blue, but I'm happy to do the job for as long as the club want.

"The other players made it easy for me and Joe with their effort against Ashfield and more of the same response tonight will hopefully get an even greater points reward."

The spectre of relegation hangs over the entire Super Premier fixture card with the other three games taking place tonight also involving teams battling to avoid the drop.

Second-bottom Beith – boosted by feted striking duo Andy Reid and Kenny McLean signing two-year contracts – play host to an Irvine Meadow side two places and five points better off in the standings.

Suspension rules out promising midfielder David McGowan from the home team ranks, but manager Johnny Millar has another ace up his sleeve in the shape of pacy winger Charlie Hobbs, suitably rested up after his cup-tied status kept him out of last weekend's 3-2 defeat by Arthurlie .

Meanwhile, Pollok gaffer John Richardson is vowing to shut out what is happening with his side's relegation rivals and focus only on Lok's head-to-head with champions-elect Auchinleck Talbot.

He said: "Why bother with what is going on around us when we can only have a say in what happens in our own game. Admittedly, we are up against it in taking on the best West Region team doing the rounds.

"But I truly believe that on our day we can match anyone, even Auchinleck.

Richardson was giving nothing away about his selection thoughts, however Carlo Monti, Chris McLuskey, Brian McGinty and Steff Reilly are all in line for a return after being left out of the starting XI against Largs.

The final top-flight game has third from bottom Arthurlie hosting Clydebank, whose early exit from all the Cup competitions means they will be playing their final game of the season.
