KILBIRNIE LADESIDE'S promotion as Super First Division runners-up was assured by Rutherglen Glencairn's defeat on Saturday.

Now the Blasties will now look to turn on the style in front of their fervent supporters tonight when they host the Glens in their final league match of the season.

That could prove bad news for Willie Harvey's men who must win all three of their remaining league matches to grab the Super First play-off spot that goes hand in hand with finishing in the third-top place currently occupied by Largs Thistle.

Ladeside co-gaffer Stevie Swift said: "Our preparations for tonight's game saw us in training on Saturday so there were a lot of smiling faces when news of the Glencairn result came in.

"But nothing has changed in respect of our approach as we want to win it for ourselves, not least because of a 4-0 pasting handed out by Glencairn earlier this season which is probably when Mark Crilly and myself were at our lowest point as a management team.

"It would be very satisfying to gain revenge and at the same time show just how far this Kilbirnie team has come in the intervening months."

Suspension rules out experienced defender Shaun Dillon but otherwise a fully-rested Kilbirnie are at full strength. Glencairn are hampered by a series of niggling injury concerns and hope to recall skipper Stevie Aitchison whose organisational qualities were sadly missed at Winton Park.

In other games, outgoing Ashfield boss Stevie Rankin is in charge for the Euroscot Eng semi-final tilt against city rivals Petershill despite the Saracen Park outfit revealing they have installed John Conlin as their new manager.

Richie Burke and Craig Palmer are non-starters for Peasy who hope to recall top scorer Steven McGladrigan to their line-up.
