OUR wait for a Premiership win at Firhill goes on after we let another two points slip against Ross County last weekend.

When you are winning 3-1, especially at home, you have to see the game out and take the three points.

It never happened, again, for us and mistakes cost us what would have been a really big victory.

That first home win is much needed and hopefully it will come this weekend against Kilmarnock.

The positive for us is we scored three goals against County but we couldn't keep it tight enough at the other end. They punished us for our mistakes.

There has been a lot of talk in the papers and by the fans about our home record but it is not something the boys are focusing on.

Of course we would have liked to have won more games at Firhill so far. But you can't change what has been done.

We all know how important the home games are but we can only look forward to the next one and look to finally get that win we want.

We were terrific at Firhill last season but it has just not happened for us so far this year and it has been away from home that we have picked up most of our points.

I know the Thistle fans are just as anxious as the staff and players to see us win on home soil. It is frustrating for everyone at the club.

It is another massive game for us on Saturday and, fingers crossed, it will be a good day all round for us.

We have to dust ourselves down, forget about what happened against County, and move on and focus on the Kilmarnock fixture.

We have to strike a balance between attacking and defending. If we score goals, we concede and if we don't concede we don't score.

We have to go into the weekend with a fresh mind and a positive attitude.

You have to put bad results behind you and concentrate on the next game. If you think about what might have been, you risk slipping up again.

There is always another fixture around the corner to give you a chance to put things right.

Throughout the season, the attitude of the players has been great.

They have had their share of disappointments but they know they can't sit there and feel sorry for themselves.

These days, you are not just a football manager or coach, you have to do a bit of counselling as well.

Every dressing room has a mix of personalities and there are some guys that need a cuddle and others that manage situations themselves.

The important thing is how they react and to make sure that they are in a positive frame of mind going into every game.

After losing Isaac Osbourne for the rest of the season due to injury, we are eager to get Sean Welsh back in action.

Welshy is still doing some rehab and we are hoping to have him back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

He is a big player for us and obviously a huge loss.

He won't be back for Saturday, that is still too early, but hopefully it won't be too much longer.

The important thing is making sure that he is right before he comes back in. We don't want to rush him and risk losing him once again for even longer.

It is crucial that he is right so that when he does come back we get to see the best of him in the coming months.
