SIMONSEN (6) Handed his first start in Cammy Bell's absence and almost conceded inside three minutes as Templeman's looping header hit the bar.

But made a superb reaction save late on as Mohsni's clearance deflected off Wallace and headed for the top corner.

FOSTER (5) Rarely troubled at right-back but not good enough in the final third. Passing and delivery poor on a disappointing night for former Aberdeen star.

McCULLOCH (6) At the heart of the physical battle with the Forfar frontline and booked for using an elbow in an aerial joust. Cracked the bar with a sweetly-struck free-kick on the hour mark.

MOHSNI (6) Should have given Gers the lead just before the break but could not convert after Douglas spilled Aird's drive. Finally broke the deadlock with just 15 minutes left on the clock as he powered home an Aird corner.

WALLACE (6) Denied a clear penalty when blocked by Dods at the end of a trademark rampaging run down the left flank. Shook off a facial knock to see the game out.

FAURE (5) Defender was utilised as the midfield anchorman in front of the Gers back four. Was booked before the half-hour mark and had little impact in the middle of the park.

LAW (5) Tested Douglas early on with a dipping effort from the edge of the box. However, there was not enough creativity from the Gers playmaker.

MACLEOD (6) Plenty of effort from the youngster, who should have been used in a more central role. Frustrating night as little came off for him.

SHIELS (4) Was the Light Blues' hero against East Fife but didn't take his chance to impress last night. Never got into the game and was hooked with 20 minutes remaining.

DALY (6) Hustled and bustled the Forfar defence, but was denied decent service and too often left isolated with no support. Hardly a sniff of goal on a quiet night.

AIRD (6) Canadian kid has been in decent form of late but was not at his best at Station Park. Final ball not up to scratch, but whipped corner allowed Mohsni to put Gers ahead.

TEMPLETON (for Shiels 70) (5) Should have been on earlier to provide a spark to the lacklustre Rangers attack. Terrific strike to make it 2-0.
