RANGERS hitman Jon Daly is desperate to hit the goals trail again soon - and stop Bilel Mohnsi from edging ahead of him in the scoring charts.

Daly has 14 goals to his name, but has failed to hit the target since netting a header in the 3-0 win over Ayr United at Ibrox back in December.

The 31-year-old has continued to perform well as Ally McCoist's side has maintained their undefeated record in SPFL League One.

But he is keen to get in on the goals again soon - starting in the game against Arbroath at home this afternoon.

He said: "It's obviously frustrating not to have been scoring, but it's important that the team is winning.

"If I can contribute in any way then that's great and I think I've got a few assists over the past month, which is the next best thing to a goal.

"But obviously, strikers are judged on goals, and I'd love to start scoring more goals. Yes, it's frustrating, but as long as the team is winning, I'm happy." He added: "I don't know what is different from when I was scoring before. I can't put my finger on it. Sometimes you just go through spells as a striker.

"At the start of the season I went about four or five games without scoring and then I went on a scoring spell. But now I'm back to four or five games without a goal.

"These things do come round and you just try to ride it out and hopefully I can get back on the scoresheet today and go on a little run.

"The fans have been fantastic with me and I've not noticed any negativity towards me and, if there was, then it's obviously gone without me noticing.

"The fans have been fantastic to me since I signed and, hopefully, I can start scoring more goals again to repay them."

Rangers centre-half Mohsni has had no difficulties scoring since he moved to Scotland in the summer: he has netted eight goals in all competitions.

The French-Tunisian was on target when he opened the scoring in the 2-0 win over Forfar Athletic at Station Park in the league on Monday night.

Afterwards, the defender vowed to break through the 20-goal mark during the 2013/14 campaign - and his team-mate believes he is capable of that.

He said: "It was a great header from Bilel. It was a tough game for us and we needed to score the first goal to kick on.

"So I'd love to see him go on and score 20 goals. It would be great for a centre-half to do that and there's no reason why he can't.

"You look at him and he's got all the attributes of being a fantastic player and to go on and play at a much higher level.

"He's obviously shown that when he does get in front of goal that he can stick it away as well.

"I think he's shown he's a really good footballer at the back and he's a good man to have in your team."

Daly continued: "Personally, I don't think I've played with anyone like that. He's not your typical centre-back. He likes to get it down and try things.

"I'm sure the fans love watching him and to have him in your team is really great. When he gets a chance, he tends to put it away."

Meanwhile, Daly has stressed the off-field issues at Rangers have not affected the Ibrox players.

He said: "The boys have just been concentrating on the football and the games and not worrying about what goes on off the park. We concentrate on the football."
