YES says MATTHEW LINDSAY:

DAVID TEMPLETON has made crucial contributions to Rangers' victories in their last two outings after coming on as a substitute.

So, what can the forward achieve if he is given a run from the start?

It is something I think Ally McCoist should try to find out by handing the player a run in his starting eleven.

The former Hearts man scored a wonder goal in the last minute of the 2-0 triumph over Forfar at Station Park seven days ago. And, on Saturday, he energised his side and netted a wonderful equaliser after replacing Dean Shiels.

Templeton has been badly hampered by injuries during this campaign, but he is injury-free now and displaying glimpses of the form that convinced Rangers to pay £450,000 for him in 2012.

The performances of the SPFL League One leaders of late have, despite results, left a lot to be desired.

Handing Templeton a start would add much-needed invention to their play in the final third of the park and lift the side overall.

NO says JOHN McGILL:

DAVID TEMPLETON is a potent weapon for Rangers manager Ally McCoist to have on the bench.

He is the sort of player who can come on and, with one moment of magic, turn a game in his side's favour.

That is exactly what he has done in the Ibrox club's last two competitive outings against both Forfar Athletic away and Arbroath at home.

He killed off a tenacious Forfar side with a last-minute goal at Station Park last Monday night. And he was almost single-handedly responsible for a thrilling victory against Arbroath.

He scored a goal and tormented a Red Lichties defence that eventually caved in. There will now be a clamour for him to be included in the side for the SPFL League One match against Brechin this weekend.

But doing that would leave McCoist without a supersub who can change his side's fortunes if all is not going to plan.

Not many others in this Gers squad can. So, for that reason, I would persevere with him on the bench.
