DAVID TEMPLETON is a smashing player who could still be playing in the SPFL Premiership if he so desired.

But he has lost confidence this season. He has struggled with injuries and has not impressed when he has featured for Rangers.

But in the last two games against Forfar and Arbroath he has come off the bench and changed the game.

In the Forfar game last week he came on when his team was leading 1-0.

There was no guarantee that Ally McCoist's side would win the game. Indeed, Steve Simonsen had to produce a wonder save to keep his team in front.

Dick Campbell's men also won a free-kick late on that went inches wide of the post.

But David scored a goal in the last minute to make sure that Rangers extended their unbeaten run.

Then at the weekend he was an inspiration for his team. He came on when the visitors were leading 2-1.

He levelled with a wonderful goal and set up one for Bilel Mohsni that was chalked off for offside. Hopefully, he will have gained some self- belief from these two run-outs.

I would not be surprised if he starts in the SPFL League One match with Brechin tomorrow.

If he struggles then Ally can easily replace him. But David is an exciting player and somebody who, when he is on form, can entertain the crowds.

I would like to see him given an extended run in the team in the weeks to come. Hopefully, he will show what he is capable of.
