ALLY McCOIST suggested he might promote promising kids Luca Gasparotto and Craig Halkett to his side before the Ayr United game on Saturday.
First-choice centre-backs Lee McCulloch and Bilel Mohsni were suspended for the SPFL League One meeting at Somerset Park at the weekend.
But McCoist opted for the experience of Brazilian defender Emilson Cribari and Frenchman Sebastien Faure against the Honest Men. He was right. Until the third-tier title is won he has an obligation to put out the strongest side available.

The Brazillian - who played well and helped his side to a clean sheet - will not dislodge Lee McCulloch or Bilel Mohsni from the first team any time soon.
So why not give young Luca Gasparotto or Craig Halketta taste of senior football?
Cutbacks will come when chief executive Graham Wallace finishes his company review
It's likely the kids will back up the established players in the Championship in the 2014/15 campaign, so they should be given game time now when nothing is at stake.
