JON DALY has paid tribute to the way Rangers left-back Lee Wallace has contributed to his scoring exploits this season.

Daly is the leading goal-scorer for the Ibrox club in the 2013/14 campaign after netting 21 goals in all competitions.

He netted his latest strike for the Gers in the 2-0 win over SPFL League One rivals Ayr United at Somerset Park on Saturday.

And the provider on that occasion - as he had been on numerous other instances this term - was Light Blues defender Wallace.

The former Hearts man was yesterday left out of the Scotland squad for the friendly international with Poland in Warsaw next month.

National boss Gordon Strachan has selected Phil Bardsley of Sunderland and Andrew Robertson of Dundee United ahead of him.

That is despite the 26-year-old playing well in the World Cup qualifier with Macedonia and the friendly with the United States this season.

Daly has certainly enjoyed playing with the eight-times capped player with Rangers this season and feels he has benefited hugely from his presence.

He said: "Lee's deliveries into the box from wide areas are fantastic and I have benefited from them on numerous occasions this season.

"At the weekend against Ayr he delivered a fantastic ball into a fantastic area and I was lucky enough to get on the end of it and score.

"It is a dream for a striker to have somebody who can deliver balls into the box for you like Lee can. He has helped me and the team a huge amount."

Strachan has kept faith with goalkeepers Matt Gilks, Allan McGregor and David Marshall, who are all playing at a high level in England, for the Poland match.

But Daly feels that Cammy Bell has a chance to force his way back into the national set-up despite playing in the third tier if he continues to perform well.

The former Kilmarnock keeper, who has won one cap for his country, has performed consistently well for Ally McCoist's side in recent months.

He produced several top-class saves to keep another clean sheet against Ayr at the weekend - the 15th occasion this term he has kept a shut-out.

Daly said: "Cammy has been doing very well for us this season. Whenever he is called upon to make a save, which is sometimes not often, he pulls it off.

"That is what you need from a keeper at Rangers. You have to stay on your toes even though you do not have a great deal to do sometimes.

"Scotland have several very good goalkeepers at this moment in time. But if Cammy keeps on playing the way he has been then he has a chance.

"He has played for Scotland before in the past and I have no doubt at all that if he was called upon again in the future then he would do a fine job for his country.

"He just has to keep playing as well as he has been."

Meanwhile, Gers' William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-final clash against Albion Rovers at Ibrox has been moved to Sunday, March 9 with a 3.30pm kick-off and will be live on Sky Sports.
