I FEEL sorry for Lee Wallace after the Rangers left-back was left out of the Scotland squad for the friendly with Poland next month.

That's b ecause Lee has performed even better for the Gers since he was last picked for the national squad for their friendly matches against the United States and Norway in November.

In short, he has been playing out of his skin for Ally McCoist's side.

Phil Bardsley has been outstanding for Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League.

He has experience at international level and is playing in a higher league against top opposition.

But do you know what? I still rate Lee above him.

Elsewhere, Andrew Robertson, the former Queen's Park player, deserves a chance. He has been doing extremely well for Dundee United in the SPFL Premiership.

I think Gordon Strachan just wants to have a closer look at him, in training and possibly in the match over in Warsaw, to see what he is capable of.

Lee will be disappointed he is not part of things. It is not as if he has hit a bad patch of form.

But there can only be so many left-backs in the squad.

And I don't think Lee is out of it entirely. He has to make sure that he does not allow himself to get downhearted.

I am sure he will be considered for the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
