Fraser Forster has stepped up to the mark - and now he wants to get his hands on a medal.

While beating Charlie Shaw's club record for shut-outs and surpassing Bobby Clark's 1155-minute mark for keeping the ball out in league games gives the giant goalie immense pride, it is winning the title that really fires his passion.

And another three points against Aberdeen tonight would take Celtic a massive step towards three-in-row.

He is now also chasing the British shut-out record - currently 1311 minutes, set by Edwin Van Der Sar in 2009.

But Forster's No.1 priority is making it a hat-trick of championship medals and said: "It is definitely what would make the season for me.

"First and foremost, it is about winning the league. It is what you go into the season aiming to do.

"Through that, you get the chance to qualify for the Champions League.

"So, retaining the title is always the priority and what all the lads here are aiming for."

The Hoops came agonisingly close to winning the championship in Forster's first season at Parkhead, but slipped up in one of their final games, against Inverness.

Since then, Neil Lennon's side have made the league flag their property, and Forster aims to get the trophy back in their safe keeping as soon as possible.

Despite their shock defeat to Partick Thistle at the weekend, Aberdeen remain Celtic's closest challengers, albeit now 24 points behind.

Forster needs no reminding just how dangerous the Dons can be.

They not only knocked Celtic out of the Scottish Cup 2-1 this month, but, in so doing became the first side to have scored against Forster in a domestic match since they got the ball past him when the Hoops defeated them 3-1 at Parkhead on November 23.

However, Forster is not looking at this match as an opportunity to settle a score - just as a chance to take an important three points.

He denies Aberdeen have become something of a bogy side for Celtic, but did admit: "They are a good team.

"As we saw in the cup, they came to Parkhead and had a real go at us. That is something we are fully aware of.

"We have seen how they play and we know that Pittodrie is always a very tough place to go.

"So, we need to go out and make sure we play the very best that we can.

"If we can do that, it will be a very good game."
