PAUL GALLACHER reckons Partick Thistle let two points slip through their grasp as they were held by relegation rivals Ross County on Saturday.

The Jags took an early lead in Dingwall as Kallum Higginbotham netted his fifth goal of the campaign but Derek Adams' side soon fought back as Richard Brittain curled home a terrific free-kick to rescue a draw for the hosts.

The Staggies stalemate saw Thistle drop to tenth in the Premiership standings as St Mirren emerged victorious in the other basement battle of the weekend by beating Kilmarnock in Paisley.

With no Premiership fixture this weekend, boss Alan Archibald has taken his squad to Manchester for a training camp as they gear up for the end of season run-in.

The Jags are not back in action until the visit of Hibernian on March 15.

But Gallacher reckons Archibald's side should be a couple of points closer to the Capital club after they were cancelled out by County in the Highlands.

"I think it is one that we should have won," he said.

"We had a great start with the goal and I have to be frustrated with the goal we lost, and perhaps I got caught with the weight on my wrong foot but it was an excellent free-kick which he is very good at. I still consider it a game we should have won."

Meanwhile, the Jags' second string went down 3-1 to Hamilton in an Under-20 league fixture at Firhill.

Goals from Mikey Devlin and Greg Docherty had the visitors in control at the break before Darren Lyon made sure of the points midway through the second half.

David Wilson pulled one back from the spot for Thistle before 13-year-old keeper Joshua Rae became the youngest player to ever play for the Accies Reserves with six minutes to go.
