ALLY McCOIST will hold talks with Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace next week to discuss his summer transfer strategy.

McCoist has elected to stay out of the latest round of boardroom battles at Ibrox, with former director Dave King and the current hierarchy at loggerheads over the club's future.

But the Gers manager will hold his own discussions with Wallace over vital on-field matters.

He said: "I had a meeting with the chief executive on Wednesday and we are meeting a couple of times next week.

"The discussions will enlighten us in terms of strengthening the squad and so on. All these things have to be looked at for next season."

And McCoist re-affirmed his determination not to take sides in the public war of words between the board and former director Dave King - and give football his full focus for Sunday's William Hill Scottish Cup quarter-final clash against Albion Rovers at Ibrox.

Asked if he was still maintaining his stance, McCoist said: "Absolutely. Even more so after reading Mr King being quoted as saying he thinks the manager should concentrate on football matters.

"I know Graham and the board are also happy for me to concentrate on football matters.

"So, if all parties involved want me to do that, then I am thrilled to concentrate on football matters.

"Those gentleman can discuss what they have to discuss and I will concentrate on getting a result on Sunday."

Doubts over Rangers' financial health have been at the forefront of the row between King and the Light Blues board in recent weeks as tensions have risen.

McCoist and his players could do their bit for the cause by claiming the Scottish Cup this season and banking the prize money that comes with it.

But the Ibrox gaffer insists the lure of on-field glory is his only motivation as he gears up for Sunday's last-eight clash with Rovers.

He said: "I haven't personally (thought of the financial implications of a cup run), but I have been told it would obviously be very beneficial to the club - particularly at this time.

"I don't know whether that is right or wrong, but I'm just trying to concentrate on getting the team through to the semi-final stage.

"Finance is obviously important and it would be great. But I don't want to reach the cup semi-final for the financial benefits, which is what I'm trying to say. That would be an added bonus.

"I'd imagine (it wasn't part of the budget), but you'd need to ask those who did the budget at the start of the season."
