KALLUM Higginbotham is confident Partick Thistle's attacking arsenal has the firepower to keep them in the SPFL Premiership.

The Jags recorded their second successive home win with a 3-1 triumph over Hibernian on Saturday as goals from Chris Erskine, Lee Mair and Higginbotham clinched a deserved three points.

Boss Alan Archibald fielded all four of his forward stars from the start at Firhill as Kris Doolan joined Lyle Taylor in attack and the move paid off in style as the Jags once again impressed in the final third.

Thistle are now ninth in the Premiership and man-of-the- match Higginbotham reckons their attacking prowess will prove the difference in the battle to avoid a play-off place.

He said: "I thought the attacking threat was really good. Dools has found it hard with Taylor coming in with his chances limited.

"But every time he comes on the pitch he gives his all and I think he took his chance on Saturday.

"Hopefully he will get a run in the team now. If we can keep all four of us on the pitch, we have got a massive goal threat.

"I don't mind having the onus on me, I think I thrive on people relying on me. It brings the best out of me.

"But having the four of us on the pitch gives us a massive goal threat and I don't think many teams in this league will be able to defend against us in that kind of form."

Thistle have now lost just two of their last 10 Premiership outings as they have found their form at just the right time in their maiden campaign back in the top flight.

While relegation rivals Ross County beat St Johnstone on Saturday, Kilmarnock lost to Celtic on Friday night and St Mirren blew a two-goal lead at Tannadice.

Former Buddies star Mair made an impact at both ends of the field at Firhill and Higginbotham has hailed the impact the defender has made since making the switch from Paisley.

He said: "Lee has been magnificent. I think that is what we have needed from the beginning, and that is no disrespect to Conrad (Balatoni) and Aero (Aaron Muirhead).

"We needed someone with masses of experience and Lee has played I don't know how many games in the SPL.

"Since he has come in, the defence has shored up and we have seen the results turn around.

"He got a goal against Hibs, which was good. I put it on a plate for him so he couldn't really miss!

"St Mirren suffered a massive blow being 2-0 up and getting beaten 3-2. I am not feeling sorry for them, I just want us to keep winning games.

"Whoever finishes in the play-off spot will deserve to be there come the end of the season."

With just four fixtures left before the Premiership split, Thistle are well placed to avoid that place and ensure their return to Scotland's top tier is not a short-lived one.

The Jags face Inverness, Celtic, St Johnstone and Hearts before the final five-game end-of-season shoot-out and Higginbotham is confident they will complete the job and avoid the play-off zone.

He said: "I have said all along that I have never been worried about where we are going to finish come the end of the season because I know what we have got in the dressing room. I see it every day on the training pitch."
