ONE of the strengths of our Partick Thistle squad is the quality of the attacking players we have.

We decided to go with four of them from the start against Hibs last weekend as Kris Doolan came in to join Lyle Taylor, Kallum Higginbotham and Chris Erskine in our forward line.

It is something Alan Archibald and I have been talking about for a while and we thought last Saturday was a good opportunity for us to give it a go. The fact Stuart Bannigan was suspended forced our hand a bit, but it worked out really well for us.

It took us half an hour or so to get going in the game but, once we did, we created numerous chances and thoroughly deserved our 3-1 win.

Our plan worked really well on the day, and having Dools back in the team gave us another attacking option; I thought he was superb.

He hasn't played fully for a while, but he came in and was excellent. We were delighted with him, Lyle, Higgy and Squiddy, and you just have to look at the first goal to see how good they are together.

I was pleased to see Dools come in and do as well as he did. He was excellent for us in the first half of the season and he was unlucky Lyle hit the ground running when we signed him on loan in January.

Dools was our only threat really for a lot of games, but then found himself out of the team. He never moaned about it or complained, though.

He just got on with it, got his head down and kept working hard and that is credit to him.

He is a model pro who does what is required of him and wants the best for the team. He is a great player for us and hopefully there is even more to come from him this season.

Higgy mentioned in one of his interviews at the weekend just how big a threat the four of them can be when they are all on the pitch at the same time, and you could see that against Hibs. But it is not just the four guys that I have mentioned that we can rely on and look to produce on the park.

Stevie Lawless is unlucky to find himself out the team as well, but we know what he can bring to the side when he comes on, and he is an excellent attacking option.

As well as Stevie, James Craigen and Christie Elliott have both done well for us and they are eager to get themselves back in the team.

WE have also got George Moncur, who has yet to play for us since joining from West Ham, but we are confident he can come in and do a job.

He is nearing the fitness required and will have a part to play between now and the end of the season.

We do have four really good forwards, but we have got boys waiting in the wings who, when they are needed, will add to the attacking threat we have got in the team.

At the other end of the park, defender Aaron Muirhead has started training again this week as he continues his comeback from injury.

Whether he is fit enough to make the squad for the Inverness game on Saturday or not, I don't know. We will look at him over the next couple of days and see.

But hopefully he is back in action soon and is able to come in and add to the squad.
