CALUM GALLACHER has been taken aback by his whirlwind start to life in the Rangers first team.

The youngster scored on his Gers debut against Dunfermline last weekend and was handed a start for Monday's Scottish Cup win over Albion.

Ally McCoist's side face Brechin tomorrow and the forward is loving life in the Ibrox spotlight.

Gallagher said: "I'm enjoying it a lot and it's all happened dead quickly.

"Obviously I'm nowhere near the end yet but the changes last week were very exciting. I've still got a lot to learn.

"I've not had much time in Murray Park since last week because of games and days off but the boys I play with in the Under-20s have been good and the kitchen staff have been giving me cuddles and kisses!

"I wasn't expecting it - most of the Under-20s thought it would be Charlie Telfer that would get the shout first.

"It was a blessing it was me but I'm sure there are others who can follow on as the gaffer has a lot of faith in the youth department."

Gallagher could play a big part for the Leagone One champions between now and the end of the season and even face school friend Andy Robertson when Dundee United travel to Ibrox in the Scottish Cup.

Gallagher said: "Andy's done amazingly this year and he's set a good example for all kids in Scottish football.

"It's important that young Scots get a chance to make it to the international set-up like Andy has done - that sort of rise hasn't happened for a while. It can only be a good thing.

"He was released by Celtic as a 16-year-old and he's done amazingly well these past few years. He deserves it - he's got one of the best attitudes in football and I don't have a bad word to say about him."
