JON DALY doesn't feel there's an advantage to be gained from this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final with Dundee United being played at Ibrox.

The Light Blues have been drawn as the home team for the match which takes place in Govan with Hampden unavailable due to renovations ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Well over 20,000 Gers end tickets have been sold already and that means supporters of the 54-times champions will heavily outnumber Arabs followers.

But Daly is adamant the reality is it's a more even playing field once the teams take to the pitch itself.

He said: "It's quite strange to have the semi-final at your own ground but with Hampden unavailable, that's the situation we have.

"It's a one-off game so I don't think the venue really matters. It's a grass pitch and there are going to be 22 players so that's all that's important.

"Of course, it'll be good to have our supporters there and hopefully they'll get right behind us but United will have their fans at the match too."

Rangers will be looking to respond positively against United to their 1-0 Ramsdens Cup final loss to Raith on Sunday, the club's first defeat in 40 matches.

But the odds are stacked against Ally McCoist's men, who have gone out of the Scottish Cup to United three times in the last four years.

Gers are ranked as underdogs going into the game but again Daly feels such pre-match tags are irrelevant against his former club.

He added: "I don't know if it suits us or not. I don't think the lads will see themselves as underdogs and I don't think United will look at themselves as the favourites.

"It's just going to be one of those games where you have two good sides having a go at each other and trying to get to a cup final."
