WE put a huge three points on the board with our win over Kilmarnock on Saturday and now we head into tomorrow's game with St Mirren on a real high.

It was a must-win game for us at Rugby Park and the boys put in a good performance to get a deserved victory. We knew how vital it was to get off to a good start after the split.

You could have said beforehand that we would have taken a point but myself and Alan Archibald were speaking last week and we were saying that it really was a match that had to be targeted as a crucial three points

We went into the split 11th in the table and had to make up points on the teams above us. We have done that and now we need to keep it going tomorrow night.

I thought we bossed the game for most of the afternoon, although Killie did have a spell of pressure in the second half.

But we have got players who can turn teams, we always look a threat and we kept going right until the end to get the winner.

It is still so tight down there and it is just a case of taking each game as it comes.

They are all huge for us and the St Mirren game is another one that we are looking to win.

They got a good win over Hibernian on Saturday and have taken six points from their last two games after beating Motherwell the weekend before the split, so they are coming into this one in good form.

They have got a lot of good players but we know what to expect from them.

Hopefully we can put in a performance to get the points we need.

St Mirren will maybe look at this and think that a win puts them safe but, if we can win, it would be a massive step forward to us securing our place in the Premiership for next season.

We have always maintained that we won't worry about what the other teams are doing.

If we can win tomorrow, though, it would put a bit of added pressure on the teams round about us when they play on the Saturday.

Something has got to give in the other games so you could see that as an advantage for us but there are still plenty of points to play for in the coming weeks.

I am sure St Mirren will bring through a big support and there will be a great atmosphere at Firhill.

I know the Jags fans will come out in their numbers again.

We have had some great nights at Firhill recently, the game at home to Morton just over a year ago stands out.

We are in different circumstances this time but the game is just as important as it was when we were trying to get in the top flight - we now want to stay there.

There will be a big crowd in and the boys are looking forward to going and performing on that stage.

There is always a different feel and buzz about the place when you play at night and it will be something the players will cherish hopefully.

When things have gone badly for us, and we have lost games that we should have won or drawn, the boys have always managed to bounce back well.

They have never gone into hiding, they always look for the ball and look to play their game.

There is a lot at stake just now but myself and Alan emphasised how important it was for them to be brave.

Once the players cross the white line the nerves seem to go away and they get down to doing what they are good at. I think they deserve a lot of credit for that.

We just want to put a show on for the fans, and we are hoping they will all come out in their numbers tomorrow at Firhill and play their part in keeping us in the top flight.
