ALAN ARCHIBALD is eager to secure Partick Thistle's top-flight safety as soon as possible - so he can start planning for next season.

The Jags head to Tynecastle tonight knowing that victory will see them retain their place in the SPFL Premiership.

It has been an impressive return to Scotland's top tier for the Firhill side after a nine-year stint in the First Division.

Boss Archibald is still sweating on the fitness of Kris Doolan and Lee Mair after they were crocked in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Hibs, while midfielder Prince Buaben is also a doubt as Thistle aim to get over the line and avoid the play-offs.

Archibald said: "The season going on could impact on everything.

"The kind of market we are in could see a player we want get an offer from elsewhere and he might take it because he doesn't know what's round the corner. It can also impact on offering our own players deals and planning for next season."
