RONNY DEILA has declared himself ready for action in Iceland tonight.

The new Hoops boss just hopes his players feel the same way as they prepare to kick off their European campaign against KR Reykjavik.

An eventful 39 days after succeeding Neil Lennon, Deila finally gets the chance to put his plans into action.

He said: "It's good to get started and, of course, Champions League matches are special.

"We've prepared well. We have played four games, and I think we have had a lot from it.

"There's still a lot to improve, but we are ready for the game. I'm feeling comfortable and looking forward to it.

"It is a big game, but that's why I came here - to get the possibility to play in Europe."

Deila is aware that his team - which will be captained by Charlie Mulgrew - carries a heavy weight of expectation going into this tie.

Reykjavik are 6-1 to win on their own patch.

But Deila knows this is immaterial. All that matters is what happens when the whistle blows.

He said: "I've been in football for many years, and everything is about winning.

"But I have to think how I can win. That's the important thing, to get my team to perform as well as possible.

"I know I have good footballers. If I can get them to feel good, then we are going to win matches.

"We want to control the game and get the tempo of the game, so we can get the goals for a good result.
