ALAN ARCHIBALD is confident Partick Thistle are fighting fit and raring to go ahead of the new Premiership campaign.

The Jags continued their pre-season schedule with a goalless draw against Fleetwood on Saturday and will welcome Sunderland to Firhill on Wednesday night as they round off their friendly fixture list.

Archibald handed starts to new stars Ryan Stevenson and Abdul Osman against Graham Alexander's side and remains in the market to further bolster his ranks, with a centre-back, left-back and forward all on his shopping list.

Thistle will need to wait until the visit of Ross County next week to get their second top-flight campaign underway after their scheduled trip to face champions Celtic on Saturday was postponed.

But the Firhill boss is pleased with how his side are shaping up.He said: "We're not far away now. I think everybody has covered three or four 90 minutes and we've still got another game to go before the kick-off with Ross County.

"We'll have a look at who still needs game-time ahead of Wednesday but that will be pretty much us.

"On the pitch I think we're about on track with where we want to be.

"Obviously I think we still need to add one or two but we're working on it all the time. I don't think we're too far away from having exactly what we want."

He added: "There's a bit of disappointment that we aren't starting on Saturday with everybody else. We won't worry about it too much though and just look forward to next Wednesday instead.

"The focus in training is right back into the football and everyone is ready to go."
