Celtic new boy Wakaso Mubarak admits he not spoken to boss Ronny Deila about his role at the Parkhead club.

The Hoops completed the loan signing of the Ghana winger from Rubin Kazan on Wednesday with Celtic having the option to buy the player from the Russian side.

The former Espanyol and Villarreal forward, 24, is Deila's fifth signing of the summer following the recruitment of free agent Craig Gordon while Cardiff forward Jo Inge Berget, Manchester City defender Jason Denayer and Aston Villa winger Aleksandar Tonev all arrived on loan.

Wakaso, who insists he is ready if called upon for the trip to Dundee in the Premiership on Sunday, claims he did not take any counsel about his move and only met his new manager on the day he signed.

"It was my own decision. I know Celtic is a good team for me," Wakaso said.

"I only met him (Deila) yesterday. We haven't spoken yet and I think there are a lot of things to talk about.

"I don't really know much about his tactics and his ways of playing so there is a lot to ask him and a lot to hear from him.

"They (Celtic) spoke directly to my manager (agent) but I heard what the manager said about me.

"I want to build my career up again like I was doing in Spain and to help the team."

Wakaso revealed that Greece forward Georgios Samaras, who left Celtic in the summer, was the catalyst for his long-time interest in the Scottish champions.

"I don't really know much about Scottish football but I know a little about Celtic because I have been watching them since I was young," he said.

"I saw the amazing supporters they have and the kind of players that pass through here makes me feel that Celtic is a great team to be at.

"One of the players I really love, for example, is Samaras.

"I have been watching him since he was at Man City and when he came here he was my number one player.

"He made me watch Celtic and I used to watch Celtic against Rangers.

"I am very happy to be here "

Wakaso, who played at the World Cup finals in Brazil, insists he is not concerned about Celtic's shock exit from the Champions League.

He was set to sign before the 1-1 first-leg draw against Maribor last week but work-permit issues held him up until after the Hoops crashed out of the play-offs with a 1-0 home defeat on Wednesday night, which sent them into Friday's draw for the Europa League group stage.

"There is a saying that you should appreciate what you have," he said. "We have Europa League.

"We were looking forward to playing in the Champions League but we couldn't make it, we lost and it is part of football.

"So we have to appreciate what we have now and to make use of it."
