RANGERS remain in discussions with midfielder John Eustace after he left Glasgow without putting pen to paper on a deal to join the club.

The 35-year-old travelled north of the border earlier this week for talks with boss Mark Warburton over a potential switch this summer and was given a tour of Ibrox and Murray Park as he considers his options ahead of the new campaign.

Warburton completed his first two deals since being appointed manager last week when Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan signed on the dotted line on Tuesday.

And former Watford and Derby star Eustace could yet be the third man to move to Rangers as he continues to ponder a switch to Ibrox.

Eustace has spoken positively about the chance to join Rangers and work under Warburton as he looks to win promotion to the Ladbrokes Premiership in his first season as Gers boss.

The midfielder endured an injury-hit second half to the campaign as a knee problem kept him on the sidelines from January onwards.

Eustace was informed he would not be retained by the Rams after former Real Madrid coach Paul Clement replaced Steve McClaren as manager this summer.

But the veteran has eased fears over his fitness after a lengthy absence and is determined to play on next season as he continues to consider his options.

Warburton is keen to bring Eustace to Ibrox to add some experience to his side following the departure of a host of players at the end of their contracts last month.

Rangers will return to pre-season training this weekend as Warburton and assistant David Weir put their newly-inherited squad through their paces for the first time at Murray Park.

The Light Blues will play their first competitive game of the campaign in the Petrofac Training Cup on July 25, but have yet to confirm any friendly matches for the coming weeks.
