GLASGOW CITY forward Fiona Brown has landed The Player of the Month Award for May.

The City ace has been crowned The Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month by coaches, players and staff on the back of a terrific start to the 2015 season.

Brown's impressive season has included scoring crucial goals for her club, playing in the Champions League quarter-finals against PSG and featuring in Anna Signeul’s Scotland squad.

After picking up a knee injury towards the end of May against France and successfully coming through her operation, Brown is aiming to make a return to playing in 2016.

She said: “It’s really nice to be recognised if you are playing well, especially by other teams and players. I felt I had a very good start to 2015, scoring some important goals in May, two in particular in Glasgow City’s 3-3 draw against league rivals Hibernian.

“Scoring more goals was something that I wanted to add to my game this year and it was one of my main aims, so to score big goals in big games and get recognised for that makes the award really special.

"Winning this award is very important to me as it will spur me on with my recovery in coming back from my injury and hopefully my game will get recognised again next season.”

The divisional Player of the Month was won by Pamela Liddell of Motherwell Ladies.

Motherwell have made a fantastic start to 2015, undefeated in the domestic league, winning the 2nd Division League Cup – with Liddell scoring in that 6-2 hammering of Rangers.

“I am delighted to have been voted Player of the Month," she said.

"It means a lot to know that people have voted for me and I am truly appreciative for that. We have had a good start to the season and we are hopeful that it will continue after the summer break where our focus is on becoming league champions within our division. "

"Thanks must also go to my teammates who have contributed towards this award and as a squad we will now look to kick on again.”

Motherwell manager Graeme McArthur: “It is great to see Pamela being given the recognition as player of the month within the division due to the form that she has shown this season as well as her overall contribution within the squad.

"Her goal scoring ability is second to none as has been shown by the volume of goals that she has scored this season which is incredible for any striker and she has scored some fantastic goals thus far.”
