RANGERS have announced their first friendly fixture of the summer against English Championship side Burnley.

New Light Blues boss Mark Warburton will make his Ibrox bow on Tuesday, July 21 when Sean Dyche's side make the trip to Glasgow.

Rangers returned to pre-season training on Saturday as Warburton and assistant David Weir started putting their squad through their paces ahead of the big kick-off.

And Gers fans will now have a chance to see their side in action before the new campaign when they face the Clarets next month.

Burnley have lost Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier to Liverpool and Spurs respectively following their relegation from the Premier League last season but still have the likes of Scott Arfield, George Boyd and former Motherwell striker Lukas Jutkiewicz in their ranks.

And boss Warburton is looking forward to the tie against one of the early favourites for promotion from the Championship this term.

He said: “Burnley will be a good early season test for our players and I am looking forward to my first match as Rangers manager in front of the supporters at Ibrox.

“I have no doubt this game will be beneficial to both clubs as we prepare for our opening league and cup fixtures in late July and early August.

“I worked with Sean Dyche when I was at Watford and we will welcome Sean and his Burnley squad to Ibrox as we continue our planning and preparations for the 2015/16 campaign.”

The Burnley clash will be the only public game Rangers will play ahead of the new campaign as Warburton continues his preparations with a series of behind closed door outings.

Danny Wilson could make his second debut for the club while Rob Kiernan will also hope to get his first chance to impress the Light Blue legions.

Around 19,000 fans have already renewed their season tickets ahead of Warburton's first term in charge and details for the Ibrox friendly will be announced shortly.

Rangers will begin the new campaign on July 25 when they face Hibernian in the Petrofac Training Cup first round.

The League Cup first round matches will be played the following weekend before St Mirren visit Ibrox on August 8 for the Championship curtain raiser.
