LOUIS MOULT believes life begins at 40.

But after reaching that tally mark in goals over the last two campaigns, the Motherwell striker is desperate to push the boundaries even further during his maiden season at Fir Park.

The Wrexham striker signed a three-year deal with Well yesterday that will see him join new recruits David Clarkson and Wes Fletcher in Ian Baraclough’s attack.

The former Stoke City graduate, who has played in the English Premier League for the Potters, banged in more than a goal every two games over his last two seasons at the Racecourse Ground, averaging 20 strikes a campaign.

Now he has landed in North Lanarkshire, the 23-year-old is out to keep that ratio up in the Ladbrokes Premiership this season.

“Hopefully I’ve made the right decision and I’m looking forward to enjoying my football here now,” said Moult.

“In two seasons I’ve scored 40 goals, I’m going to try and make it 60 in three or even more if I can.

“I’m here to try and score goals, that’s the kind of player that I am.

“I’ve had almost two months off because I had a little trip over to Dublin with the England C squad. It was a funny one this time and it’s probably the longest off season I’ve had.

“But I’m feeling good, feeling fresh. I might have to play catch up for a week or two but I’m looking forward to it.”

Having enjoyed his best spell of his career in North Wales, Moult it was still a no brainer to travel to Scotland to continue his football career.

He added: “It was difficult to leave Wrexham. I loved the place as a football club and as a place, I enjoyed my time there. They welcomed me in there with open arms and really took me in as one of their own.

“It’s something that I’ll never forget and I’ll always appreciate them and I’ll make a statement to them.

“This was probably too much of a good opportunity to turn down career-wise, financially it ticked every box as I’ve got a young family to support. I hope everyone understands that.”

Moult was not the only Louis to sign on at Fir Park yesterday as former Nottingham Forest defender Louis Laing put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The 22-year-old centre-half impressed during a loan spell at the Steelmen last season as he paired up with Stephen McManus in the heart of the Motherwell defence.

Laing exclusively spoke to SportTimes last month about his desire to return to Well, and the former Sunderland man has finally got his wish.

He told MFC TV: “I’ve got a bit of security for the next two years at a fantastic club with fantastic fans and a fantastic manager.

“I didn’t have a great start last season, getting sent off in the first game, but after that I hit the ground running and it was a really enjoyable experience. I’m delighted to be back.”
