DEDRYCK BOYATA today revealed it has been “easy” for him to fit into life at Celtic because the team’s style of play suits him perfectly.

The new signing, who has now been joined by Swiss defender Saidy Janko, strolled through his first match for the Premiership champions, a 2-0 win over Dutch side Den Bosch at St Mirren Park.

Boyata was happy that he and Virgil van Dijk have clicked so quickly, and the 23-year-old Belgian declared himself delighted with his first few weeks as the Hoops build up to the first leg of the Champions League second-round qualifier against FC Stjarnan in Iceland on July 15.

He said: “I was happy to win the first game. It was hard at the beginning, but I thought we played well. I thought we won with something to spare. We have worked a lot this week on how the team will play and I think I got a lot of information at once. The way we play suits me.

“I think I can deal with it. I don’t think it will be difficult. I like the way we play, so that makes it easier.

“My partnership with Virgil is good. We have still to play a lot of games, but the first match went well. We will analyse the game to see what we can do better.”

Janko will undergo a medical today and will sign for four years for an undisclosed fee.

Deila obviously believes the 19-year-old is one for the future, but told the player that first-team opportunities would come his way if he worked hard.

The Norwegian said: “He is a young player, a very talented right-back. So I am really looking forward to seeing him on the training pitch.

“We will see if he can get in the first team. He has to show himself up in training, as does everybody else. The road is there if he shows us the best.”

Deila remained tight-lipped over whether there would be any more signings.

The club seem to have lost out on their bid to sign Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci, with Wigan Athletic reported to have offered the Tannadice club £1million.

Celtic could come back with an improved bid, but Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson is reluctant to see another of his players leave for the East End of Glasgow.

Deila added: “We will see what happens. Maybe it will be Christmas! We are working on different things, but we are trying to build a team this season. We have a lot of consistency and that is why we have done so well.

“The players who are here, they are the ones who will be most important for us.”

Deila was impressed with the way his players performed against Den Bosch in Paisley.

He said: “There was some good play, especially in the first half, and I’m happy with the game.”

Midfielder Stuart Armstrong left the field with a deal leg, but it should not be a serious problem.
