FORMER Celtic striker John Guidetti has joked that he would cost "less than a cheeseburger" after being freed - but he doesn't care now he's a European champion.

After seven years as a Manchester City player and a total of five loans, the 23-year-old was let go by Manuel Pellegrini after failing to make sufficient progress at the Etihad Stadium.

And he was not given a deal by Celtic after his form fell away following an encouraging start.

A number of clubs are reported to be interested in the forward, who is basking in the afterglow of Sweden Under-21s' magnificent European Championship triumph in Prague on Tuesday.

And he is ready to show how good he can be after the best summer of his life.

Guidetti said: "Right now, I don't have to prove anything (to the Premier League) with this golden thing around my neck. I'm so happy.

"The Premier League is a fantastic league. Of course, it's a dream for everybody to play in there, that's normal, but I don't know what's going to happen.

"I tried to do my best to make sure my future is good. I got the bronze shoe, I would have got the gold if I would have scored one more goal.

"But I don't care about that - right now I'm just happy to be here and to win, and it's amazing. My agent said: 'Enjoy, I'll see you Friday, and we're going to discuss it'."

That means there is still plenty of time for the striker to celebrate Sweden's first ever men's UEFA youth title.

Few expected the Scandinavians to be able to stop favourites Portugal in Tuesday's final, yet their organisation, spirit and tenacity took them through to penalties, where they triumphed 4-3.

Guidetti, who emerged as a cult hero for Sweden during the finals, said: "We believed from day one and we ran more than every team in every game.

"I think that's a key point because out of 10 games they would probably win more than us."
