Alan Archibald is still hoping to bring in at least three more signings ahead of the new season as he prepares his squad for a visit to Falkirk today.

Partick Thistle take on the Bairns, fresh from a pre-season training camp in London, and manager Archibald is hoping he can bolster his squad over the coming weeks ahead of their Ladbrokes Premiership curtain-raiser at Hamilton a fortnight today.

"We're still having a look at a few players," he said. "We're being patient, but we probably need another three in at least.

"The first priorities are a right-back and a striker, and we possibly need a utility player to cover a few positions."

The London trip has helped the Jags boss integrate some new faces into his squad, and he is looking forward to stepping up preparations with today's test against the Scottish Cup runners-up.

He said: "We've only had one game, but the facilities have been great and it's been good to get the boys away.

"We took four of the younger lads who will be in the first-team squad this season down there, and they all showed up well.

"They'll all play a part in the Falkirk game apart from Liam Lindsay, who has done really well but unfortunately picked up a knock the other night against Eastleigh.

"The other three – [Declan] McDaid, Jordan Leyden and Jack Hendry – will all feature throughout pre-season, and hopefully they will be ready come the start of the season if called upon.

"Falkirk will prove a tough test. They're a Premier League team really when you look at their squad size and the quality they've got, so we're looking forward to the challenge.

"Obviously you want to win, but a good performance, stepping up the match fitness and not picking up injuries are the main things we're looking for.

"Hamilton have put a new surface down, and no two are the same, but this game on an artificial pitch is another way of just giving the lads a wee wake-up call and making sure that they are completely ready."
