RANGERS will return to the table with a third offer for Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan as boss Mark Warburton looks to bring him to Ibrox this summer.
The Easter Road board last night threw out a second bid of £225,000 for their prized asset, but Rangers are eager to land their man and are expected to continue their pursuit of last season’s Championship Player of the Year in the coming days.
Allan is believed to be keen on a switch to Ibrox and, while Hibs are determined to hold on to their key playmaker, Rangers are likely to once again test their resolve by putting a third bid on the table.
The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the coming campaign and would be free to speak with, and sign for, other clubs come January.
But Rangers are eager to complete a deal during the current transfer window as Warburton continues his Light Blues rebuilding job ahead of their bid for the Championship title.
The new Gers boss has added seven players – Wes Foderingham, James Tavernier, Danny Wilson, Rob Kiernan, Andy Halliday, Jason Holt and Martyn Waghorn – to his squad already during the close season and Allan is the next man on his shopping list.
Rangers will kick off their campaign with a trip to Easter Road for a Petrofac Training Cup first-round tie tomorrow, and it is Allan that is the centre of attention ahead of the curtain-raiser as talks over his future get set to continue.
