Scott Booth got his managerial reign at Glasgow City off to a perfect start with a 3-0 win over Celtic at the Excelsior Stadium.

Goals from Abbi Grant, Clare Shine and Lauren McMurchie ensured a comfortable win for the SWPL champions in a game they controlled for long spells.

Grant put the home side ahead just before the break before Shine fired home a powerful effort midway through the second half, and McMurchie headed home a well-worked free-kick straight off the raining ground.

A delighted Booth said: "I am really happy with today. It has been a busy week with getting the job, taking training for the first time and sometimes that can take away from the main event, which is the game itself

"All in all, to get the win in the manner which we did, I am delighted with it. The players have responded really well, are very positive and have shown an amazing attitude and commitment to what it is that I have brought.

"They have also remained as professional as they always are and I saw all of that on the pitch and in training, so I am very happy."

City are back in action next weekend when they travel to Edinburgh to take on Spartans.
