MARK WARBURTON was delighted to see boyhood Light Blue Andy Halliday score his first goal for the club on Saturday.
The midfielder capped his Gers bow in style with a superb long-range effort as Warburton’s side beat Hibernian 6-2 in the Petrofac Training Cup first round.
The Easter Road clash came after last Tuesday’s friendly fixture at home to Burnley saw him make his first public appearance for Rangers.
And Warburton is confident Halliday will shine for his side this term after he got off to a flying start to the season.
“He is a passionate Rangers fan and you saw what it meant on Tuesday against Burnley at Ibrox,” he told RangersTV.
“You saw his reaction to the goal so I was delighted for Andy. He has done so well and he deserves that.
“From the first day of training here, he came in and has shown his quality and his work rate.
“He has gelled well with the squad, they like him as an individual, and I am sure he will have a big role to play in the season ahead.”
