MATHIAS POGBA is delighted to have clinched a deal with Partick Thistle after signing on the dotted line at Firhill.

SportTimes revealed on Friday that the striker was on Alan Archibald’s radar and Pogba could now make his Jags bow against Celtic this weekend.

The 24-year-old has agreed a one-year deal with the option of a further season and will be reunited with former Crewe team-mate Abdul Osman at Firhill.

Pogba said: “It’s great to finally sign for Partick Thistle and I am glad to be a player here.

“I have played the last six months with Crawley Town but since then I have been looking for a new club. It has been a long summer but I have been patient and I liked the offer from Partick Thistle so that is why I came here.

“Abdul has certainly helped me out during the process. He talked to me and we have had some conversations and it kind of happened from there.”

The capture of Pogba is Archibald’s fifth deal of the summer after he also signed Callum Booth, Tomas Cerny, David Amoo and Gary Miller ahead of the Premiership kick-off against Hamilton at the weekend.

Defender Jack Hendry impressed for the Jags once again at New Douglas Park and he has emerged as a target for Premier League side Everton.

SportTimes understands the Toffees have been keeping tabs on the talented 20-year-old and will watch him in action again this weekend.

Hendry is one of the brightest talents at Firhill and Goodison Park boss Roberto Martinez could sanction a move if he continues to catch the eye for the Jags.

Meanwhile, Thistle will face Falkirk in the League Cup second round after the draw at Hampden yesterday.

The Bairns will visit Firhill on August 25 or 26 and Jags season ticket holders will be given free entry to the tie as Archibald’s side are reunited with the team they faced in pre-season action earlier this month.
