CELTIC have announced that they will meet Liverpool, Chelsea and Benfica in the Premier League International Cup.
The Ladbrokes Premiership champions will send an Under-21 side back to England to take part in the tournament after reaching the quarter-finals last season and losing on penalty kicks to the eventual winners, Manchester City. Leigh Griffiths made an appearance in their group win over Sunderland in the competition last term and scored two goals.
The dates for the fixtures are:
Celtic v Benfica, Thursday, September 24, Adams Park (Wycombe Wanderers ground); KO: 7pm
Celtic v Liverpool, Wednesday, October 28, Langtree Park, St Helens; KO:7pm
Celtic v Chelsea, Friday, December 4, Electrical Services Stadium, (Aldershot Town’s ground); KO: 7.05pm
The eight Barclays Premier League Under-21 teams taking part in this season’s competition are Chelsea, Everton, Leicester City, Liverpool, Manchester City, Norwich City, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur.
The eight international teams taking part are:Celtic, Athletic Bilbao, Benfica, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Schalke 04, FC Porto, PSV Eindhoven, and Villarreal.
The winners and runners-up from each group will progress to the knock-out stages with all games to be played as single-leg ties in England.
